Laws for the intelectual possession rights
The European Board has adopted yesterday a legislative package regarding the intellectual possession rights. The Board suggests the alignment of protection of the rights of interpreter artists and of the executants with that of the authors, to compensate the loss of the incomes with which the artists and the executants deal at the end of their life. Also, the Board suggests a complete harmonization of the author's rights duration that is available for the written musical compositions created by several people. It has also been discussed the prolonging of the protection duration of the works of art registered and of the actual registration from 50 to 95 years, from which the interpreter artists and the executants would benefit. Neelie Kroes, the registration commissary, said: "This decision will have a positive effect over the cultural diversity."
