I do not think there is any police in this world that does not take any bribe...
Marian Tutilescu, General Manager of the Bucharest Police:
"I do not think there is any police in this world that does not take any bribe... The difference is that the Western police forces take substantial bribes and only at some level, whereas in our country it is the average people that perform it on the streets: 50 EUR, 100 EUR because it is harder to detect. From financial point of view we can only stimulate the policemen by offering them remuneration and bonuses for the ones that stand out with special deeds. By the end of the year I want to resolve a rather important aspect, namely the creation of some units for small crimes. Secondly, we must continue the training of our men by providing specialized courses with competent professionals. Finally, the third problem is represented solely by the fact that the Bucharest Police is a very large institution. The various structures communicate with difficulty and that is why we created some information applications to facilitate the information exchange regarding the crimes performed in the Capital.
