Give people a realistic image of what Europe means
Located in Sibiu, where he held a speech at the third European Ecumenical Assembly, Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, held a press conference before heading to Bucharest.
Jose Manuel Barroso: "I asked the authorities not to relax, but to continue their reforms. We are very pleased with Romania's progress, but, nevertheless, we asked the Romanian authorities to continue the enhancement process reforms for a very important state of the European Union."
President Barroso held a speech before the Joint Chambers of the Parliament, to whom he communicated: "The role of national parliaments is essential as regards the European Parliament elections. They will draw Europe's special attention to Romania. National parliaments must pay special attention to this. Communication is the key. I am confident we will have time to explain to your citizens how this thing will affect their life. Please, don’t make any promises that Europe cannot keep. Try to get rid of any stereotypes, give people a realistic image of what Europe means and of what having European problems means."
